Dodgers call up infielder SS Taylor, cut RHP Tepesch
PITTSBURGH (AP) The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled shortstop Chris Taylor from Triple-A Oklahoma City prior to Saturday night's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates and designated right-hander Nick Tepesch for assignment.
Taylor, who will be used in a utility role, was acquired on Sunday from the Seattle Mariners in a trade for right-hander Zach Lee. He went 6 for 12 (.500) with three doubles, three runs scored and three games in the Pacific Coast League.
In 86 games with the Mariners over the last three seasons from 2014-16, Taylor hit .240.
Tepesch was the starter and losing pitcher Friday night against the Pirates after having his contract selected from Oklahoma City. He allowed five runs in four innings in his first major league appearance since 2014 with the Texas Rangers.
