White Sox tee off on Dickey for back-to-back-to-back HRs

Kevin Sousa / USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago White Sox completed a home run natural hat trick on Saturday against Toronto Blue Jays starter R.A. Dickey, with the third blast coming from the most unlikeliest source.

After Dickey struck out the first two batters to start the second inning, Brett Lawrie, Dioner Navarro, and J.B. Shuck took the knuckleballer deep on consecutive at-bats.

Lawrie's shot hit the top of the wall and bounced back into play for the unconventional inside-the-park homer. Navarro went deep five pitches later, launching a 79-mph knuckleball over the right-field wall. Shuck, who'd gone 318 plate appearances without homering, completed the trio of home runs with a shot to center.

It's the ninth time in franchise history that the White Sox recorded back-to-back-to-back blasts, and the first time since August 2008.

It also marked the first time that Dickey had allowed three home runs in a single inning since 2006.

Lawrie would hit a no-doubter into the seats off Dickey in the fourth inning, becoming the first White Sox player to hit an inside-the-park and regular home run in the same game since Ron Santo in 1974.
