Indians' Davis bobbles way to game-ending double play

Better to be lucky than good, right, Rajai?

In the ninth inning of Friday's clash with Detroit, after all, the Cleveland Indians' center fielder watched Miguel Cabrera's one-out smash pop right out of his glove, sending the runners on first and second scrambling and ostensibly putting the tying run on base. Somehow, though, Davis managed to corral the bobbled ball before it hit the ground, (inelegantly) recording the out and firing the ball back to the infield with enough time to double Cameron Maybin off at first for an improbable, game-ending double play.

Brad Ausmus, who managed Davis in Detroit in 2014 and 2015, wasn't exactly thrilled to see his club's late rally end in that fashion.

"It's a heck of a long ways out there in right-center field," Ausmus said. "Miggy punched the ball, but Raj stuck with it. We had Raj here for a couple of years and everyone likes him, but I wish he would've missed."

He didn't, though, and the Indians escaped with a 7-4 victory for their seventh straight win, snapping the Tigers' winning streak at four games.
