Red Sox's Travis Shaw: Enters Thursday's game
Shaw (leg), who was expected to be limited to pinch-hitting duty only, was needed to play three innings in left field Thursday in an 8-7 win over the White Sox.
Analysis:
The Red Sox lost left-fielder Chris Young to a hamstring injury Thursday and placed him on the disabled list, leaving themselves a little short on outfielders. Ryan LaMarre replaced Young and was then pinch hit for by Shaw, who has played a total of 27 innings in the outfield as a pro.
