Padres' Christian Friedrich: Battles control issues in win over Reds
Friedrich (4-2) gave up four runs on six hits and four walks in five innings Thursday, but came away with a win against the Reds.
Analysis:
He struck out just two batters, making this the fourth time in eight starts that Friedrich's failed to record more strikeouts than walks. Indeed, control's always been an issue for the lefty, and as he approaches his 28th birthday, things don't appear to be getting better. Friedrich's fortune-favored ERA was sitting at 2.12 before he gave up 10 runs over his last 11 innings, but now it's at 3.60 -- and it's most likely not done rising.
