Jose Reyes' time with the Colorado Rockies is officially coming to an end.

The club announced Thursday it's requested waivers on the 33-year-old shortstop for the purpose of granting him his unconditional release.

Reyes recently completed a 51-game suspension for violating Major League Baseball's domestic violence policy after an incident with his wife in Hawaii this past October. The Rockies designated him for assignment June 15.

The Dominican has reportedly drawn interest from the New York Mets and is longing for a reunion with the club where he started his career.

"He’s a ball. He brings energy to the team, he’s got a great smile, he loves to play and he loves to play here," manager Terry Collins recently replied when asked if he'd welcome Reyes back to the Mets. "He comes every day and wants to be in the lineup, but even then on the days we gave him off, he still kept (himself) ready in case we needed him."

Colorado acquired the three-time stolen base champion from the Toronto Blue Jays as part of a six-player deal for Troy Tulowitzki just ahead of last season's trade deadline.

Across 47 games with the Rockies, Reyes managed to hit .259/.291/.368 with three home runs, 19 RBIs, and eight stolen bases.

Colorado will be responsible for paying the remainder of his contract, which is roughly $40 million.

Reyes owns a career slash line of .290/.339/.431 with 118 home runs, 621 RBIs, 117 triples, and 479 stolen bases.
