It wasn't the worst outing of his career, but it was pretty bad.

The Pittsburgh Pirates chased Jeff Samardzija after pounding him to the tune of six runs, six hits, and three home runs in three innings of work Wednesday night, the shortest start of his San Francisco Giants career.

Samardzija's start also matches the shortest start of his nine-year tenure in the majors.

Date (Year) Opp. IP H ER HR
June 22 (2016) Pirates 3 6 6 3
Sept. 15 (2015) Athletics 3 11 10 1
June 1 (2014) Brewers 3 8 8 1

Prior to his start on Wednesday, Samardzija's first season with the Giants has been going fairly well. He's pitched to a 3.14 ERA while going 8-4 in 14 starts.
