Marlins' Jose Fernandez: Strikes out seven in no-decision against Atlanta
Fernandez allowed just one hit and two walks over seven shutout innings with seven strikeouts but took a no-decision in Tuesday's game against Atlanta.
Analysis:
Fernandez showed no rust whatsoever after skipping his last start. He has given Miami quality starts in seven of his past eight turns and has lowered his ERA from 4.28 to 2.36 in that span. Fernandez's seven strikeouts Tuesday marked his second-lowest total in the hot streak. He now has an absurd 125 strikeouts in just 87.2 innings, and his 12.8 K/9 is a full strikeout better than the next best qualified pitcher, Stephen Strasburg (11.4 K/9).
