Harvey unfazed after poor start: 'It's just baseball'

Matt Harvey isn't shunning the media this time around.

After getting roughed up by the Atlanta Braves to the tune of four doubles in the New York Mets' 5-1 loss, Harvey didn't let anyone, or anything, get the best of him.

"It's just baseball," he told reporters after the game.

During his early-season slump, Harvey spoke on multiple occasions about how he felt lost on the mound. That doesn't seem to be the case now, because although he's 1-2 in his last four starts, he owns a 2.08 ERA and has only given up six runs and five walks.

"We'll continue to make sure he stays positive," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "I don't think it should affect him, because he's been pitching too good."

Harvey is now down to nine losses, tied with Houston Astros starter Dallas Keuchel for the most in the majors. But loss aside, Collins sees the way Harvey is dealing with it these days.

In the early going, every poor outing was a crisis as the manager was bombarded with questions about demotion, skipping starts, and moves to the bullpen.

Now, Harvey is dealing with his losses at face value.

"It's just a whole different demeanor," Collins said. "He's happy he's pitching better, and that's made a difference."
