Blue Jays' Jose Bautista: Team confident toe is not fractured

The Blue Jays seem confident that Bautista's toe is not fractured, according to Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com, but Bautista will undergo more tests and visit specialists before his diagnosis is official.

Analysis:

For now, the injury is being labeled as a left big toe strain, but Bautista is expected to undergo a "stress X-ray" and possibly a CT scan to determine the exact cause of the discomfort and extent of the injury. Darrell Ceciliani was recalled in a corresponding move Friday with Bautista landing on the 15-day DL, but Ezequiel Carrera should benefit the most from Bautista's absence. Carrera is starting in right field and batting leadoff Friday against the Orioles.
