Twins' Joe Mauer: Out of Thursday's lineup

Mauer is out of the lineup Thursday against the Yankees, Cold Omaha's Brandon Warne reports.

Analysis:

Mauer has a .163 average in 43 at-bats against Thursday's starter CC Sabathia, so it appears the Twins will be taking that into account by giving him the day off. He has eight hits in his last six games, and appears to be back to his high average (.285) and high OBP (.386) ways. Trevor Plouffe will start at DH and Byung-ho Park will start at first base Thursday.
