Following a failed stint with the Texas Rangers, Tom Wilhelmsen is returning to the Pacific Northwest.

The Seattle Mariners agreed to a one-year deal with the right-handed reliever on Wednesday, reuniting him with the organization he spent the first five years of his career with.

Wilhelmsen was traded to the Rangers with James Jones in a four-player deal in November that saw Anthony Bass and Leonys Martin go back to the Mariners. He struggled in 21 appearances, posting a 10.55 ERA and 2.20 WHIP before being let go after refusing a minor-league assignment.

During his time in Seattle, Wilhelmsen posted a 2.97 ERA and 1.19 WHIP across 312 1/3 innings. The 32-year-old converted 13 saves to go with a 3.19 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 62 innings in 2014.
