Casey Janssen, who spent eight years in the American League East with the Toronto Blue Jays, is returning to the division where he had the majority of his success.

The Boston Red Sox have agreed to a minor-league deal with the 34-year-old right-hander, who will immediately report to the minors, according to Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe.

Janssen began the year in spring camp with the San Diego Padres, but was released by the club on March 24 after allowing 12 hits and four earned runs in seven Cactus League innings.

The former closer, who last pitched in the bigs with the Washington Nationals in 2015, has earned 90 saves and owns a 3.63 ERA across his nine-year career.
