Report: Rockies continue to shop Reyes

The Colorado Rockies would like to find Jose Reyes a new home. The only question is whether anybody will take him.

The team is reportedly shopping the 33-year-old around the league in hopes of finding a deal before his rehab assignment expires on Wednesday, rival executives told Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Once Reyes' rehab stint ends, the Rockies must either add him to their active roster, trade him, or designate him for assignment.

Reyes has been with the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes since his suspension for allegedly assaulting his wife ended on May 31. In seven games with the Isotopes, Reyes has hit .240/.367/.480 with five walks and four runs scored.

While raw numbers may show that he's ready to contribute at the big-league level, the money he's owed may scare teams away from dealing for him. Reyes is owed $41 million over the final years of his contract.

Since signing his six-year, $106-million deal with Miami in the winter of 2011, Reyes has seen his numbers slowly decline across the board. After being traded to the Rockies from Toronto last July, Reyes hit just .259/.291/.368 in the notoriously hitter-friendly Coors Field while showing diminishing range at shortstop.
