Blue Jays' Russell Martin: Making adjustments in search for swing

Martin made a subtle adjustment to his stance that he believes will help him get back to being productive at the plate, Vice Sports reports.

Analysis:

For several weeks earlier in the season, Martin battled severe neck stiffness. That made it impossible to turn his head toward the pitcher the way he does now. The veteran also adjusted his hands so that it would be easier to keep them back on the off-speed pitches that tormented him earlier in the season. To say Martin has struggled this season is an understatement. He is batting .197. His strikeout rate of 31.5 percent is almost double his career average, and his .531 OPS is more than 200 points below his career mark. However, over the last seven days, Martin is 8-for-25 (.320) with his first three homers of the season.
