Colorado Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes will be sent to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday to begin a minor-league rehab assignment following the end of his suspension for violating the league's domestic violence policy, manager Walt Weiss told reporters.

MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports that no Rockies player will be forced off the team's roster, as Reyes won't have to go on the club's 40-man list.

Reyes was suspended through May 31 by commissioner Rob Manfred earlier in the month, retroactive to Feb. 23. The shortstop surrendered $7.06 million in salary and missed a total of 52 games.

Upon completing his rehab assignment, it's unclear where he is expected to slot into the Rockies' big-league roster, with rookie shortstop Trevor Story swinging a hot bat to begin the season with 14 home runs.
