Carlos Gomez will try to get his rough 2016 campaign back on track Tuesday in Arizona when he rejoins the Houston Astros. He's been on the disabled list with a bruised left rib cage for the past two weeks.

"He feels healthy, he feels better and we're looking forward to getting him back," Astros manager A.J. Hinch told MLB.com's Brian McTaggart.

Gomez, a two-time All-Star, landed on the DL on May 16 after managing a meager .486 OPS through his first 34 games this year. In five rehab games with Double-A Corpus Christi, the 30-year-old center fielder went 5-for-20 (.250) with one homer and six strikeouts.

In his absence, the Astros turned to Jake Marisnick as their primary center fielder, though the 25-year-old has hit just .226/.250/.387 with only three extra-base hits over his last 11 games. A corresponding move will be announced ahead of Tuesday's contest, but Marisnick won't be sent down.

"I've always wished for a number of players to play so well we have an angry person on the bench," Hinch said. "I'll say that to be true now. As guys start to warm up and start to play better, we're going to have some guys on the bench. It will put some pressure on the DH position. It will put some pressure on the outfield."
