Red Sox's David Ortiz: X-rays come back clean

X-rays on the left foot of Ortiz came back negative Sunday, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.

Analysis:

Ortiz was a late scratch from Sunday's lineup after he arrived at the ballpark with a sore foot that had only gotten worse from Saturday. The team sent their DH for precautionary X-rays, and it seems as if the ensuing results were favorable. If the pain subsides enough, there's a chance Ortiz could be back in action as early as Monday. Although speed was never his strong suit, baserunning is currently the ability that is affected most by the ailment.
