Rays' Brad Boxberger: Will be activated Monday

Boxberger (abdomen) will be activated from the disabled list Monday, freelance Rays writer Roger Mooney reports.

Analysis:

Boxberger made his final rehab appearance Friday at Triple-A Durham and came out of it feeling fine, so the 28-year-old will now be cleared to rejoin the Rays' active roster for the first time this season. While he saved 41 games for the Rays in 2015, Boxberger doesn't have much tenure as the team's closer, and manager Kevin Cash indicated Boxberger would be eased back into closing. As a result, Alex Colome may end up sticking as the Rays' ninth-inning man at least a little longer after logging a 1.23 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 22 innings.
