Twins' Glen Perkins: Resumes throwing program

Perkins (shoulder) has begun a throwing program, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Analysis:

Perkins, who has been sidelined since mid-April with a shoulder strain, is scheduled to throw his first bullpen session later this week. Kevin Jepsen has been working as the Twins' closer to limited success, so if Perkins is able to avoid any setbacks during the rehab process, he could reclaim his spot as the team's preferred ninth-inning man.
