Red Sox's David Ortiz: Diagnosed with sore left foot

The Red Sox clarified that Ortiz was scratched from the lineup Sunday against the Blue Jays due to a sore left foot, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

As was speculated, the Red Sox gave Ortiz the afternoon off after he was struck in the foot by a pitch in the fifth inning of Saturday's game. It's not believed that Ortiz's soreness is a serious concern, so he could step back into the lineup for Monday's series opener with the Orioles.
