Royals' Omar Infante: Benched for fourth time in six games

Infante isn't in the lineup Sunday against the White Sox, Rustin Dodd of The Kansas City Star reports.

Analysis:

After maintaining a batting average of .300 for the first two weeks of the season, Infante has reverted back to provided limited offensive utility, just as was the case for much of 2015. Since April 16, he's gone just 19-for-90 (.211 average), with only six of his hits going for extra bases. The prolonged slump is beginning to cost Infante playing time, as he'll now be on the bench for the fourth time in six games while Whit Merrifield picks up a start at second base.
