Cardinals' Matt Adams: Remains out of lineup Saturday

Analysis:

Adams exited Thursday's game against the Nationals after his back stiffened up on him, and now Saturday marks his second consecutive day out of the lineup. He told reporters Friday that his back was fine and that he'd be available off the bench if necessary, so there is some optimism that his malady won't keep him out for too long. Matt Carpenter will get the start at first base Saturday against southpaw Gio Gonzalez.
