Athletics' Sean Doolittle: Throws scoreless inning

Doolittle struck out one in a scoreless seventh inning against Seattle on Tuesday. He earned a hold.

Analysis:

Doolittle now holds a 1.93 ERA over his last 14 innings of work along with an impressive 0.86 WHIP. He's also struck out 18 batters during that span giving him a 10.7 K/9 on the season. The 29-year-old's solid production has earned him plenty of work in late-inning situations as he is now tied with John Axford for the team-lead in holds with six. While the lefty's role in currently reserved primarily for seventh and eighth-inning situations, he would be a likely candidate to take over closing duties if Ryan Madson were to lose the job.
