Pujols climbs leaderboard with home run No. 570
Los Angeles Angels slugger Albert Pujols moved into sole possession of 12th place on baseball's home run list Friday with a line drive blast to left-center field off Houston Astros right-hander Mike Fiers.
The third-inning solo shot - Pujols' 10th of the season and 570th of his career - broke a tie with Rafael Palmeiro on the all-time leaderboard. Pujols needs just three more to match Harmon Killebrew for 11th place, and 14 more to pass Mark McGwire and move into the top 10.

7 | Jim Thome | 612 |
8 | Sammy Sosa | 609 |
9 | Frank Robinson | 586 |
10 | Mark McGwire | 583 |
11 | Harmon Killebrew | 573 |

Once considered a legitimate threat to unseat Barry Bonds as MLB's home run king, Pujols set an impossible pace during the first 11 years of his career, smashing 445 homers with the Cardinals, including four straight campaigns of 40-plus long balls. His production has since slowed due to injuries and age (36), but the Angels first baseman reclaimed some of that pace last year with his first 40-homer season since 2011.
The three-time MVP is second in homers to Alex Rodriguez among active hitters.
