Diamondbacks' Jake Lamb: Out of starting lineup Friday

Lamb is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Padres.

Analysis:

Lamb has forced his way into regular playing time thanks to his .866 OPS and 23 RBI on the season, but with left-hander Christian Friedrich slated to pitch for San Diego, the third baseman will head to the bench for a day off. Brandon Drury will fill in for him at the hot corner, although Lamb will likely return Saturday with right-hander Cesar Vargas scheduled to pitch.
