Cardinals' Greg Garcia: Starting at third base Thursday

Garcia is in the starting lineup as the third baseman for Thursday's game against the Nationals, Jim Hayes of Fox Sports Midwest reports.

Analysis:

Right after being called up to replace Matt Carpenter (not injury related) on the active roster, Garcia will slot straight into the starting lineup to fill the void at the hot corner. Garcia could be in line for a few starts there while Carpenter is on the paternity list, but he'll likely either head to the bench or back to the minors once Carpenter returns.
