Cowart adds another bat to the Angels' roster that can also play all four infield positions. He struggled at the big league level last season, but the 23-year-old is slashing .303/.352/.454 at Triple-A Salt Lake this season. The Angels designated Lucas Luetge for assignment in a corresponding move Wednesday.
