Vin Scully won't be saying goodbye to us at the midsummer classic.

The beloved announcer, who's in the midst of his 67th and final campaign calling games for the Los Angeles Dodgers, was approached by FOX about calling this year's All-Star Game in San Diego, according to Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated.

In a show of typical modesty, Scully graciously declined the offer in fear of taking the focus away from this year's crop of All-Star players.

"He told me, 'I'm not Kobe Bryant. I'm just out there calling games,'" FOX Sports executive vice president of production and operations Brad Zager said.

Zager revealed that FOX asked him about simply being a guest in the booth for one inning, as opposed to calling the entire contest. That still wasn't enough to sway the 88-year-old, who last worked an All-Star Game in 1989.

Zager also asked Scully about possibly doing a national broadcast for FOX later in the season, or even the playoffs should the Dodgers not make it, but baseball fans shouldn't get their hopes up.

"If the Dodgers are there in the postseason, I think we would look to at least talk again," Zager said. "But I honestly don't think he'd want to call his last Dodgers game - and then call games in the postseason."

Unless the Dodgers make the playoffs, Scully's planning to end his career by calling the Dodgers-Giants game in San Francisco on Oct. 2.
