Giants' Denard Span: Gets day off Wednesday

Span is just receiving a regular day off Wednesday, Amy Gutierrez of CSN Bay Area reports.

Analysis:

Span was initially in the starting lineup for San Francisco but was removed only a few minutes later, leading some to speculate this was something other than a normal day off. That is not the case, however, as manager Bruce Bochy simply wanted to give Span some rest, essentially giving him two days off with the team's day off looming Thursday. Span will likely take over in center field again for Friday's series opener against the Rockies.
