Pirates' Starling Marte: Offers unique offensive numbers
Marte's two hits Tuesday lifted his season's BABIP to .405, well ahead of his career BABIP of .357.
Analysis:
His career number is pretty remarkable, too, and helps to support a lifetime .287 batting average. Marte is slashing .325/.367/.464 but will never become a master of plate discipline -- he currently holds a 4:37 BB:K. The outfielder is hitless in six at-bats against Wednesday starter Rubby De La Rosa, including three strikeouts.
