Mets' Wilmer Flores: Will start at first upon return from disabled list
The Mets believe Flores (hamstring) will be recovered and ready to start at first base immediately when he becomes eligible to come off the DL on Friday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Analysis:
In this case, Flores would only take the first base position for 4-to-6 weeks while Lucas Duda rehabilitates from a stress fracture in his back. Flores would then return to a more limited reserve infield role once Duda returns. The 24-year-old Flores is slashing .180/.255/.280 in 50 total at-bats so far this season.
