Dodgers' Yasiel Puig: Removed for lack of hustle Tuesday

Puig was removed from Tuesday's game due to a lack of hustle on a ball that he hit off the outfield wall rather than a hand injury, as initially believed, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Analysis:

Puig thought he had homered in the sixth inning, but his decision to watch the ball rather than run on contact left him with a long single. After coming around to score on a head-first slide into home plate, it was believed that Puig may have suffered a hand injury. That was not the case, however, as manager Dave Roberts removed Puig for the lack of hustle. After the game, Puig said that Roberts' decision to remove him was the correct one. Fortunately, there is no injury in play, and Puig's willingness to acknowledge the misstep may lead him back into the starting lineup without further punishment.
