Boston Red Sox slugger Hanley Ramirez was diagnosed with a bruised right toe after being hit by a pitch during the fourth inning of Tuesday's game against the Colorado Rockies.

Ramirez remained in the game after taking a Jorge De La Rosa pitch off his big toe, but was later removed in the fifth and replaced at first base by Travis Shaw. X-rays on the toe were negative, the club announced.

The oft-injured Ramirez has stayed remarkably healthy for Boston this season after missing 167 games over the last three years. The Red Sox first baseman has appeared in 43 of the club's 45 games, slashing .311/.364/.449 with four homers and nine doubles over 165 plate appearances.
