Rays' Erasmo Ramirez: Falters in Monday loss to Marlins

Ramirez (6-2) surrendered three hits, two earned runs and two walks over two innings in Monday's 7-6 loss to the Marlins. He struck out two.

Analysis:

The 26-year-old got through the sixth and seventh innings unscathed, before running into trouble in the eighth. Miguel Rojas and Adeiny Hechavarria notched back-to-back singles, prompting Ramirez's exit after 54 pitches. Enny Romero and Alex Colome came on and allowed both inherited runners to score, saddling Ramirez with his first loss since April 23 versus the Yankees. The outing was notably the fifth consecutive in which he's given up at least one earned run, and the sixth time in his last seven trips to the mound. That stretch has prompted Ramirez's ERA to rise just over a full run to its current figure of 2.43, although he continues to be one of the team's more effective options in relief.
