Kris Bryant says he'll remember Wednesday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers for a "very long time."

Makes sense, given it lasted five hours and 13 innings.

Bryant, the young Chicago Cubs star and last year's Rookie of the Year, proved he's more than just a big bat Wednesday when manager Joe Maddon deployed him at three different positions during a wild 12th inning at Miller Park in Milwaukee.

Maddon's unique brand of managing was on full display when he helped strategize his club out of a bases-loaded, nobody-out situation in the 12th by mixing and matching position players amid several pitching changes. For his part, Bryant changed positions on three consecutive batters, moving from left field to third base and finally over to first - while using three gloves in the process - before the Cubs escaped the jam and went on to win 2-1 in 13 innings.

Oddly enough, Bryant didn't get one ball hit to him during the defensive musical chairs.

"It would have been cool to get a play at every position," he told reporters after the game. "But I think I made history. I don't think too many guys have played three positions in one inning."
