Nationals' Jayson Werth: On-base machine in win over Mets
Werth went 2-for-2 with a double, three walks, a steal and three runs against the Mets on Wednesday.
Analysis:
Up five times, on base five times -- not a bad rate. It's been a rough season for Werth, who's still sitting on a .222 average and .291 OBP that won't satisfy his fantasy owners, but he does have a modest four-game hitting streak going. Of course, he's approaching his 37th birthday (it's Friday) and is coming off a sub-.700 OPS in 2015 as the latest entry in an injury-plagued career; those factors make it hard to invest in Werth moving forward, but he should at least be good for some cheap pop in deeper formats.
