Pirates' Jung Ho Kang: Forces change in plans

Kang started his third straight game Sunday, less than one week after the organization said he'd play two games and then rest or possibly pinch-hit in the third. "It's based on activity: defensive activity, base-running activity," manager Clint Hurdle told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "It's not a day game after a night game. There's a complete sleep cycle. We talked to him about it yesterday. He's in a very good place."

Analysis:

It's hard to argue with the skipper, given that Kang has hit four homers in 24 at-bats since coming off the DL. The third baseman, who batted just .150 in 40 rehab at-bats with Triple-A Indianapolis, has provided Pittsburgh with a big power boost. We'll see if the team gives him his fourth straight start Monday at PNC Park.
