Cueto gets World Series ring from Royals

Two months' work in Kansas City earned Johnny Cueto some nice jewelry.

The San Francisco Giants pitcher received his 2015 World Series ring from Royals staffers Saturday prior to San Francisco's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. They also gave Cueto one of the gold-lettered Royals jerseys the team wore on Opening Day, when the rest of the club got their rings at Kauffman Stadium.

He's apparently already thought about what to do with his new bling.

"I'm gonna pawn it and see how much I can get," Cueto jokingly told Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area.

Cueto was acquired by the Royals from Cincinnati for three players last July, and he made sure the team wouldn't regret renting his services. The 30-year-old produced up-and-down results during his brief regular-season tenure in western Missouri, but came through when the team needed him most in October, spinning a complete-game two-hitter in Game 2 of the World Series against the Mets.

"I know that the regular season was not great," he said through an interpreter about his time in Kansas City. "But once the postseason came around (I told them) 'I'm a horse and I'll be ahead of the pack and pull the same way as all of you.'"
