Hot-hitting Colon looks to keep rolling against Kershaw

The only thing worse for a pitcher than squaring off against one of baseball's best hitters is going up against Bartolo Colon.

Every time the New York Mets pitcher steps up to the plate, his opponent is expected to strike him out, and if Colon gets a hit, they become a laughing stock while Colon gets an ovation.

Now we know he can hit home runs too after the 42-year-old belted the first one of his career Saturday, adding another exciting element to the game.

But can Colon hit a home run off Clayton Kershaw? When the Los Angeles Dodgers and Mets meet Thursday, we'll find out.

At first glance, this may seem like an all-too-easy matchup for Kershaw. The only problem is his history of giving up home runs to pitchers - San Francisco Giants hurler Madison Bumgarner being a great example.

Bumgarner is the only player in the bigs to hit multiple home runs off Kershaw since the beginning of last season with two.

While Colon isn't as feared as Noah Syndergaard at the dish, if he puts a good enough swing on the ball, he could do some damage. He has an average exit velocity of 90.6 mph this season; on that legendary home run, he popped it at 97 mph.

On May 2, he even managed to crack a foul ball at 101.9 mph. That means with the right pitch location, a perfect swing, and a lot of luck, Colon could make history against Kershaw.

And everyone wants to see it.
