Pirates' David Freese: Retired as a pinch-hitter
Freese was retired as a pinch hitter Monday, bringing his average for this month down to .222.
Analysis:
Freese was a force offensively in the first month, hitting .293 with 15 runs scored, but the third baseman has started just one of the last four games thanks to the return of Jung Ho Kang. At-bats could be hard to come by for Freese while the rest of the Pirates' infield is healthy.
