Yankees' Andrew Miller: Will cease closing Monday

Manager Joe Girardi reiterated Saturday that despite Miller's success in the ninth inning, Aroldis Chapman (suspension) will be the Yankees closer starting Monday against the Royals, MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports.

Analysis:

This has always been assumed, but Girardi's comments dash any slight hopes Miller's owners may have had that he could retain a role in the ninth inning after performing admirably in that capacity during Chapman's absence. Miller is operating with a 20:1 K:BB in 11.2 innings this season and has not allowed a run, so he will still have value in almost all roto formats when he is reduced to a setup role, but his owners should start trying to locate another source of saves if they hope to avoid a drop-off in that department.
