Rangers' Shin-Soo Choo: Ramping up toward rehab assignment

Choo (calf) expects to head to Arizona on Monday for four days before beginning a rehab assignment, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Analysis:

The 33-year-old has only a couple more hurdles to clear before he heads out to join a minor league affiliate. Choo was able to take batting practice and do some light running this week. It's hard to imagine Nomar Mazara will head back down upon Choo's return given his .850 OPS and stellar defense, so the situation is a bit uncertain, but the Rangers may be able to find a way to get both Mazara and Choo in the lineup regularly.
