Report: Lincecum's best options are White Sox, Angels, Giants

Free-agent right-hander Tim Lincecum still remains unsigned after showcasing his stuff in front of more than 20 teams last week. But as teams interested in his services reportedly starting to dwindle, he may select a home soon.

Lincecum's best options to date are with the Chicago White Sox or Los Angeles Angels as a starter or the San Francisco Giants as a reliever, MLB Network's Jon Heyman reports.

The Angels acquired pitcher Jhoulys Chacin from the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday, but still remain in need of help in their starting rotation after ace Garrett Richards was lost for the season and left-hander Andrew Heaney continues to rehab from a left flexor muscle strain, which could actually be a worse injury.

Lincecum could immediately provide support to the Angels' staff which currently sits 12th in the American League in wins, earned run average, and strikeouts.

PLAYER GS WINS ERA SO
Tim Lincecum (2015) 15 7 4.13 60
Nick Tropeano 6 1 3.69 36
Garrett Richards (injured) 6 1 2.34 34
Hector Santiago 7 2 4.07 34
Jered Weaver 6 3 4.72 19
Matt Shoemaker 6 1 9.12 17
Andrew Heaney (injured) 1 0 6.00 7
Cory Rasmus 1 0 19.29 0

The American League Central-leading White Sox on the other hand are getting outstanding performances from starters Chris Sale, Jose Quintana, and Mat Latos. Chicago, however, is looking for more consistency out of the fourth and fifth spots in its rotation, which has seen Carlos Rodon, John Danks, Erik Johnson, and Miguel Gonzalez produce just one win in 14 starts.

San Francisco's interest in Lincecum as a potential arm out of the bullpen has been well-documented, and although Lincecum loves the idea of being a part of the Giants again, his aspirations to be a starter may cause him to go elsewhere.

The four-time All-Star, who impressed at his showcase with 90-91 mph heat and had his secondary pitches working, owns a record of 108-83 with a 3.61 ERA while striking out 9.3 hitters per nine innings during his nine-year career in the bigs.
