Indians' minor-league affiliate to host tripleheader Wednesday

Wednesday is going to be a long day at Calvin Falwell Field.

After rain prevented the Lynchburg Hillcats - Cleveland's affiliate in the High-A Carolina League - from finishing up a previously suspended game Tuesday, the club announced they'll host a de facto tripleheader Wednesday. First, they'll finish up Monday's game against the Potomac Nationals - called after five innings due to rain - and then play two more seven-inning contests.

According to Joe LeMire of Sports Illustrated, the only MLB tripleheader in the last 136 years took place Oct. 2, 1920, when the Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates completed three games in a span of just five hours.

What was it that Ernie Banks always used to say? "Let's play three"?
