Athletics' Jesse Hahn: Exceedingly sharp in first start of season

Hahn (hand) blanked the Astros on Saturday over 6.2 innings of three-hit ball, while also issuing two walks. He struck out four.

Analysis:

The 26-year-old demonstrated that he'd overcome the blister that had bothered him during his stint at Triple-A Nashville, breezing through almost seven full innings on just 81 pitches. The performance was an extension of the effectiveness that Hahn had demonstrated during his 2016 minor league stint, during which he'd generated a 2.04 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 17.2 innings. He'll look to keep the momentum going in his next trip to the mound against a potent Orioles lineup Friday.
