Uehara (1-1) pitched a perfect eighth inning to earn his first victory of the season in Friday's 4-2 victory over the Yankees. He also struck out a batter.

Analysis:

The veteran was the beneficiary of a tie-breaking two-run blast by David Ortiz in the bottom of the eighth, making him the pitcher of record. Uehara has been outstanding this season, save for a disastrous appearance against the Blue Jays on April 18, and has now pitched three consecutive scoreless outings of an inning apiece since then. In addition to Friday's victory, the 41-year-old also has been credited with seven holds.
