Bryant is likely to miss the weekend series against the Braves due to the sprained ankle he suffered in Thursday's game, WSCR-AM radio's Bruce Levine reports.

Analysis:

Manager Joe Maddon said he may use Bryant as a pinch-hitter if he is cleared by the trainers, but it sounds like he won't be in the lineup for any this weekend's games. Javier Baez is starting at third base Friday, and figures to see the bulk of the playing time at the hot corner in the short term, with Tommy La Stella also angling for a handful of at-bats while Bryant is out. It sounds like the soonest Bryant could return to the lineup would be Monday in Pittsburgh.
