Jake Arrieta will tell you being the best pitcher in the majors comes with scrutiny.

There's another Chicago Cubs player looking for some recognition, though he's in a backup role. At the expense of media members swirling the idea that Arrieta has used performance-enhancing drugs to find success, David Ross spoke up in his pitcher's defense.

"How come no one is asking me if I'm on PEDs?" he asked reporters. "C'mon I'm off to a good start."

Of course, Ross is a serviceable veteran who typically serves as Jon Lester's personal catcher. In eight games this season, he owns a .269 batting average with two home runs.

Ross has never won a major individual award, though he did win a World Series with the Boston Red Sox in 2013, and owns a lifetime .229 average.

That said, he's in his 15th major-league season, which is a feat many would classify as successful.
