The Detroit Tigers are reportedly set to call up top prospect Michael Fulmer to start Friday against the Minnesota Twins, according to Chris Iott of MLive.com.

With regular starter Shane Greene ruled out by manager Brad Ausmus for his scheduled start because of a blister, the Tigers were in need of a replacement for Friday. Usual call-up Matt Boyd, however, cannot be recalled unless Greene is put on the disabled list, as he was sent down to Triple-A less than 10 days ago. Therefore, all signs align to give Fulmer his first major-league start.

Fulmer is the highest rated prospect in the Tigers organization, according to MLBPipeline.com. He was acquired by the club in 2015 in the trade that sent Yoenis Cespedes to the New York Mets.

Through three starts this season in Triple-A, Fulmer owns a 1-1 record with a 4.11 ERA. Though, over two seasons in Double-A, the right-hander crafted a 2.53 ERA, finishing with a 10-4 record and 1.149 WHIP.
